Metal detector accessories are an essential piece of successful treasure hunting. But where should beginners start? Usually, there isn’t much money left after most purchase their beginners metal detector. Here’s a list of metal detector accessories every detectorist should have on hand no matter how long they’ve been metal detecting.
1. Metal detecting headphones.
2. Heavy-duty digging trowel for unearthing your finds safely. Or a sand scoop if you’ll be at the beach.
3. Coil cover for your metal detectors search coil, to protect it when in use.
4. Environmental screen or control box cover to protect the electronics of your detector from dust, drizzle and dirt while detecting.
An environmental screen cover will help protect the electronics of your metal detector as seen here on a Garrett Ace Series metal detector.
Most metal detector accessories lists would also include a hand held pinpointer. However, this is one beginners metal detector accessory that can wait until you have a bit more money on hand. If you can afford it though, a hand held pinpointer will pay off greatly by speeding up your recovery rate.
